FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What brands do you use?
My kit contains a mixture of premium brands including MAC, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, Illamasqua, Estee Lauder, Anastasia Beverley Hills, Face Atelier and OCC. All brands have been tested to ensure they are compatible with photographic lighting.
Do you offer Airbrushed makeup?
As well as offering traditional (liquid based) makeup, I am also qualified in Airbrushed makeup and use Airbase which is extremely popular with my Brides.
Where is the makeup trial held?
The makeup trial is held at my home makeup studio on Canvey Island, Essex, SS8 0HQ.
When do you recommend a makeup trial takes place?
I would advise that a makeup trial takes place no later than 8-12 weeks prior to your wedding date.
Do you offer set days for makeup trials?
Makeup trials are offered Monday to Friday in daylight hours, but during off-peak season (November – March), there may be weekend availability.
How long will the makeup trial take?
As a guide, a trial can take anything from one and a half to two hours, but I do not limit a Bride to a certain amount of time. The makeup trial will only end when you are 100% happy with your finished look. If bridal party members are also having a makeup trial, please allow extra time.
Do I need to collate ideas and pictures for my makeup trial?
It isn’t essential, but if you have an idea of the look you would like on your wedding day, please have pictures to hand at your makeup trial.
How do I further secure my wedding date after my makeup trial?
Within 7 days of your makeup trial, 50% of the total wedding day makeup costs should be paid to futher secure your wedding date in my diary. Without this your date is open to other Brides. This payment is non-refundable.
The balance of your wedding day makeup is due no later than 14 days prior to your wedding date and can be paid by bank transfer or cheque.
I’m thinking of having a spray/fake tan. Is this OK?
Yes it is not a problem to have a spray or fake tan. I would advise that you have this applied ahead of your make-up trial so you will be able to see it with the makeup as it would look on your wedding day. If you decide not to have a tan for your trial, but to have one on the wedding day, this isn’t a problem as I will colour match the foundation on the day.
On the Wedding Day, should my hair be styled before my makeup?
Ideally you will have your hair styled before your makeup on the wedding day as heated appliances/sprays may affect the finished makeup. I regularly work alongside Wedding Hair by Tara who specialises in creating gorgeous hair styles for Brides. Her work is amazing and we make a great team. You can even schedule a hair and makeup trial with us for the same day so that you can see your completed look. Please visit Tara’s website at www.weddinghairbytara.co.uk
How long will the makeup last?
The products and techniques I use will ensure your makeup will last throughout your wedding day and evening.
Do you supply a top up of my lip colour?
The lips will be the only part of the makeup that you will need to top up and yes, I will supply you with enough lip colour and disposable lip brushes for you to reapply throughout the day.
Do you have a minimum number for a wedding booking?
During peak season (April to October) a minimum of three people (Bride plus two others) must be booked in for make-up on the wedding day.
How soon should I book you?
I receive enquiries from Brides on a daily basis so if you have your wedding date and would like to book me, it is best to do so sooner rather than later.
How do I secure my wedding date?
Send me a message via my contact page stating your wedding date, location and number of people requiring makeup. Once I have confirmed my availability, a £50 non-refundable booking fee will secure your wedding date in my diary. This fee can be paid by bank transfer or cheque and will be deducted from the makeup trial.
What payments do you accept?
I accept cash, bank transfers, cheques and credit/debit cards. Makeup trials are to be paid in full in cash, cheque or credit/debit card on the day of the trial.
Fee applies for credit/debit card transactions.
